Ocean jasper is one of my favorite stones. It has such a variety of rich earthy textures. Here I've put together a necklace that celebrates the greens and whites found in Ocean Jasper.
As a centerpiece for this necklace I wrapped a vintage designed brass ivy strand around a piece of intriguing mottled green ocean jasper, making it seem more like kelp than ivy. From this stone I continued the oceanic theme and added a tassel of gold chains with a vintage brass mermaid and starfish, a carved leaf of bloodstone and tigereye accents.
The necklace made to match is constructed of silk cording, faceted tigereye, ocean jasper beads and carved bloodstone flowers, accented with gold filled beads.
This 19" necklace fastens with a vintage style brass box clasp.
People have asked me about the durability of silk necklaces. Being a natural fiber they are very sturdy and look great even if they get wet. I have many of these style necklaces that look as good as the day I made them. The only time I've broken one was when one of my dogs jumped up and got caught in it, and neither of us was hurt, so it was an optimum outcome in my eyes.
As with all my creations, a NoMonet metal tag is attached. I consider all my designs works of art and as such they must be signed.
