Alchemical Chandelier Earrings

These are one of my more interesting creations.  The picture is an old mythological dragon eating the sun, how the ancients explained eclipses.  I thought it would make a cool different type of earring design, so I scanned it and sized it for the little frame.

I inserted it into a gold toned brass frames and added a coat of clear resin to protect.  I hung two goldfilled chains with a medley of gemstones that matched the colors of the art to perfection: carved citrine flowers, faceted vesuvianite rondelles and faceted coral beads.   These lovely unusual earrings measure 2 1/2 inches from their gold-filled leverbacks.  Gold filled items do not tarnish or change color and are more expensive parts to use, but in this case I couldn't use less.  The glowing gold within the painting dictated it.  My pictures don't actually do the earrings full justice.  The citrines are a touch more golden, but photographing jewelry can be like that sometimes. It's usually difficult to capture all the subtle nuances of colors.
